Tennessees's First Learning Center to be Accredited by SACS & CITA

Did you know that... the Honors has state certified teachers? ...You can earn high school credit at the Honors? ....We are SACS and CITA accredited?

Accredited by SACS & CITA

The Honors is Tennessee's First Learning Center to be accredited by both SACS and CITA. The Honors Learning Center was fully accredited by SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and School) and CITA (Commission on International and Trans-regional Accreditation) in May 1998. The Honors Learning Center was the first learning center in the State of Tennessee to be awarded this distinction! Our accreditation allows us to offer high school credit and to have students attend the Honors Learning Center in lieu of summer school in order to be promoted.

State-Certified Teachers

The Honors Learning Center has always required every teacher and every staff member to have current state-certification. We also require our teachers to have an education degree and extensive teaching experience. Although we train teachers to administer the Honors programs, their past experience enhances their ability to be effective teachers.

Earn High School Credit at the Honors®

Students can earn high school credit at the Honors Learning Center. In some cases, students will be required to complete a certain number of seat hours and pass the course as mandated by the principal at their current high school. In other cases, the students may work to mastery of the subject. The length of the course will depend on the student's ability and motivation to do well.   Learn More »»

College & Adult Learners

The Honors Learning Center also serves college students and adults. These students are usually working to improve basic reading, writing, and math skills. Sometimes their goal is to prepare to pass a test in order to move to the next step of their education or to be promoted in their work. Self-improvement and life-long learning are goals for others. Our adult learners have a completely individualized program geared at meeting their goals.   Learn More »»

Summer Time is a Busy Time at the Honors®

Summer is the busiest season at the Honors Learning Center. It is important to call early to schedule testing before the waiting list begins. Only two hours per week will help students keep up the skills they have learned during the school year and work to catch up on rusty skills. Many students work during the summer to get ahead on reading, math, and writing skills. It is a wonderful time to learn new study skills and test-taking skills.

Students who come during the summer are ready to hit the ground running when school starts!

Often parents will say, "This is the first time my child has been excited about going back to school."
